    Launched in June 2018, Simple Flying is the leading independent voice for aviation news and insight. Our goal is to provide a one-stop hub for all the essential stories on commercial aviation, sharing the news in a simple, accessible way. We cover all regions and all aspects of commercial aviation, as well as loyalty, military, and private aviation. We’re digital first, and all of our content is free to read and access.

     

    Overview: As a Content Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of writers and overseeing content creation on everything related to commercial aviation, including history, airline and airport news, and manufacturing. You will work with the editorial team to assign topics to freelance writers, ensuring that all content on the Simple Flying website is up-to-date and relevant. 

     

    This is a remote position, and we welcome applicants from anywhere in the world. 

     

    What We’re Looking For:

    • Discover new stories and ideas for content via web search, social media, email, and data
    • Prioritize stories to get breaking news out as quickly as possible
    • Craft engaging headlines with both human readers and SEO in mind
    • Format URLs for optimal SEO
    • Prepare topics for writers with all the details they need to ensure a successful story
    • Manage deadlines, chase up late writers and coordinate the flow of content to mitigate any unexpected delays
    • Be a self-starter, able to work independently and make strategic decisions
    • Checking completed stories to ensure all goals were met

     

    Skills We’re Looking For :

    • Proven experience as an aviation writer, preferably with published work
    • Exceptional research skills, comfortable with search, social, and other means of finding emerging stories
    • Familiarity with tools like Google Analytics to identify trends and viral topics
    • In-depth knowledge of commercial aviation trends and history
    • Excellent command of the English language and strong writing skills
    • Familiarity with SEO and content marketing best practices is an advantage

  • Remote Freelance Writer

    At Simple Flying, we are looking for eager and talented Freelance Writers to join the News team.

     

    As a daily writer, prospective applicants will assist with covering breaking news in the aviation industry, editorializing important details about the most popular aviation topics, and diving deep into a variety of aviation communities. If you share a passion for aviation, a love of writing, and a willingness to learn then please apply!

     

    Responsibilities:

     

    • Writing a minimum of four articles per week (mostly weekends).
    • Working under tight deadlines and submitting articles for publication on time.
    • Reporting to Managing Editor and implementing feedback efficiently.
    • Able to maintain a contracted freelance schedule.
