Regional jets, or RJs, play a fundamental role for several airlines worldwide, as they are used for low-density routes covering short distances.
Piedmont Airlines is the largest operator of the Embraer 145, with 76 active planes in the fleet, followed by CommutAir with 75 and JSX Air with 31.
The Brazilian Air Force also operates the Embraer 145, owning 16 active planes, showcasing the jet's versatility beyond commercial flight aviation. The Scottish carrier Loganair places fifth with 13 active E145s.
